New Zealand’s newest and fastest growing life insurance company. Sean is a BCom (Auckland) qualified Chartered Accountant with NZICA membership and post graduate Treasury qualifications (Waikato), and is a Certified Treasury Professional of INFINZ.
Sean has extensive practical experience of transformational change management from a CFO’s perspective in start-up, expansion, merger or restructuring situations in New Zealand, the United Kingdom and Europe. This experience has seen Sean being a key partner for CEOs and Boards in strategic decision making.
Sean’s communication skills are a core strength, leading investor and stakeholder relationships and investor road shows. In addition to equity and debt market transactions, Sean has structured complex financial transactions including credit default derivatives, tax arbitrage, reinsurance retrocession and executive equity plans.
Sean has been a speaker/panelist at CFO conferences on topics such as mergers and acquisitions, leading organisational change and building high performance teams. Sean has made submissions to the Parliamentary Finance and Expenditure Committee on various taxation matters and Carbon Trading; and to the Financial Markets Authority on Financial Disclosures.
Sean was previously the Chief Financial Officer of NZSX listed Heartland New Zealand during its recapitalisation and transformation from a distressed finance company into a registered bank. Prior to that Sean spent 10 years as the Chief Operating Officer of pre-eminent investment bank ABN AMRO New Zealand.
Sean is a second generation Chinese New Zealander and from 1996 to 2009 was a Committee Member, Secretary and Treasurer of the The Kwong Cheu Club Inc, an incorporated society originally formed in 1923 for the social and wellbeing of relatives and friends from Ngai Sai Canton, China.
