Robert Lay

Director Corporate & Institutional Banking, Bank of China (NZ) Limited

Robert brings over 10 years of banking experience across commercial, corporate and institutional banking in New Zealand. Based in Auckland, he is experienced in the origination, development and management of New Zealand based and Multi-National Corporate lending relationships.

Prior to Bank of China, Robert was the Vice President heading up the Multi-National Corporations division for the Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ, Ltd. Auckland Branch and the Director of Market Development at ASB.

Robert also spent 2 years in Asia originating and managing a commodity export portfolio across Asia Pacific and European countries between 2013 and 2015. Over the two years, Robert has increased the company’s sales revenue by more than 300% and brought the company to the top 5 exporter nationwide while equipping the company with the internationally recognised quality standard.

Robert holds a Bachelor of Business Studies in Finance and Economics, first-class Honors (Economics) from Massey University and an MBA (with Distinction) from AUT.
