Christina Leung

Principal Economist, NZIER
Christina Leung has over eleven years’ experience across the public and private sectors. She heads up Membership Services at the New Zealand Institute of Economic Research (NZIER) where she looks after NZIER’s economic forecasts and analysis of the Quarterly Survey of Business Opinion. Christina uses her extensive knowledge of the New Zealand economy and her commercial acumen to equip clients to make robust business decisions, to plan for the years ahead with confidence, and to minimise risks arising from uncertainties in the business environment in which clients operate.
Christina has also worked at the Reserve Bank of New Zealand and ASB Bank. At ASB Bank, she led the quarterly forecasting process, produced regular commentary on key economic and industry developments, and provided guidance to both internal and external clients on the economic outlook and financial market developments.
Christina holds a Bachelor of Commerce with first class honours in Economics from the University of Auckland, and has been a CFA charter-holder since 2010.
