Held on Monday 28 of April 2014
New Zealand is a small country at the edge of the world. Capital flows play an important role in our economic connections to the world, in addition to trade, tourism and people flows.
Our capital ties are still facing west, even though Asia represents the biggest opportunity. The opportunities are there for us to invest into Asia and to attract and direct investment from Asia into New Zealand.
The Prime Minister spoke on the role of Asian Investment in New Zealand and the face of new New Zealand with the growing population of Maori, Pasifika and Asian. There was opportunity for attendees to put questions to the Prime Minister, and New Zealand Asian Leaders Shamubeel Eaqub (Principal Economist at NZIER) and Sameer Handa, (Chief Executive of Patton Ltd) who provided some insightful comments on Asian Investment in New Zealand.
Thank you to Grant Thornton for hosting this event.
Prime Minister John Key
