They say Perception is the Truth
Don’t get me wrong. I am grateful for the opportunities that have come my way. However, Imposter Syndrome has never been more real for me. I guess I should count myself lucky that I am surrounded by plenty of other young amazing leaders who are also doing some kick a** stuff. Knowing that keeps me humble. Knowing that keeps me striving and not go into cruise control.
It also makes me wonder why don’t we hear more stories about other young successful leaders? Why do we pick a handful of “winners” and throw most of our resources and opportunities at them? Instead of more systematically lifting the waka for everyone and building leadership capability and capacity in a more distributive manner in NZ.
Having been at Harvard, I can say that New Zealanders have just as much talent and caliber as the Americans. So 2016 will see me continue to, through my company Catalyst Point, build out an innovation platform. The platform will be an enabler for all healthcare professionals to come up with solutions to problems they see in the health system they work in. I want to empower more people to make multitudes of tiny changes within a complex system because I believe that way it will add up to make a more sustainable and significant difference.
So with that I wish you all a Merry X’mas and a Happy New Year! I hope you take the time to reflect how 2015 was for you and set some awesome goals on how you can set your leadership on fire for 2016!
